This past summer, two RISE students had incredible opportunities at different Department of Energy (DOE) national labs:
Matias Leon-Miquel was awarded an "Unclassified Foreign Visit" to Los Alamos National Lab (LANL), due to an ongoing collaboration between RISE and LANL. Matias visited the facilities and also gave a oral presentation talking about the results of such collaboration. Matias's presentation was titled “Bendable Concrete for Resilient, Intelligent, Sustainable and Energy Efficient Infrastructure. A Case Study Applied to Wellbores”.
Nathan Denning was awarded a highly competitive DOE internship: the Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF). With the MLEF program, Nathan conducted research at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Pittsburgh, PA. At the end of the program, he gave an oral presentation, titled "Molten Salt Extraction of Rare Earth Elements from Unconventional Resources"
