Biography
Dr. Bill Jin is an Assistant Professor at Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, Michigan State University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Georgia Tech, where he also earned his doctoral degree in Civil Engineering with minor in Materials Chemistry. He was a guest researcher in the Materials and Structural Systems Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dr. Jin also received his dual M.Sc. degrees in Civil Engineering and Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and his B.Eng. in Structural Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. As a practicing structural engineer in Hong Kong, he served as the project engineer for a US$3.4 billion integrated casino and hotel resort development in Macau, known as the “MGM Cotai”. He is a member of Sigma Xi and Chi Epsilon, a LEED Green Associate, and a licensed professional engineer in the states of Michigan and Maryland. Dr. Jin developed his interest in resilient, intelligent, sustainable and engineered infrastructure materials through his academic research and industry experience. He is hoping to impact the concrete industry with novel sustainable technologies.
