Research approach for robust, resilient, sustainable and smart (R2S2) infrastructure systems

My integrative research approach links material design to structural behavior within the context of systems-level performance and life cycle analysis (LCA). Meaningful innovations in material and structural designs require new insights into their fundamental nature, which in turn facilitates the development of new design models and characterization techniques. To provide feedback for material and structural designs, LCA is employed to examine the economic, environmental and societal costs of the developed system.
