The mission of RISE Infrastructure Materials Laboratory is to develop novel construction materials for next generation infrastructure that withstand deterioration related to extreme loading, environmental conditions, and multi-hazards. The general research topics include the following:
-
Multi-scale concrete material design, modeling, and characterization
-
Alternative and supplementary cementitious materials with low carbon footprint
-
Multifunctional fiber-reinforced cementitious/ceramic composites for smart infrastructure systems
-
Energy storage and large scale carbon sequestration
-
Machine learning and additive manufacturing
Our research combines materials science, mechanics and structural engineering. Learn about our projects from nano-engineered cementitious materials to industrial scale structures.
Our research facility is equipped with state-of-the art instruments for advanced characterization of infrastructure materials and for industrial and academic research
Our team values and embraces diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Meet our graduate students, postdocs and undergraduate students.
